Research Documents Positive Benefits of Walking or Biking to School

For the third year in a row, with the support of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights City School District, the Heights Bicycle Coalition will be promoting Walk or Bike School Day in May (on May 8 this year).   Recent research confirms that children who walk or bike to school are better able to concentrate that others.  The vast majority of kids in the Heights are bussed or driven to school, but would parents keep doing that if they knew it decreases their children’s ability to learn the rest of the school day?  Here’s a link to an article about the research and its conclusions:   http://m.theatlanticcities.com/commute/2013/02/kids-who-walk-or-bike-school-concentrate-better-study-shows/4585/#.URpiuK-YnB0.facebook
