Tuesday Evening Group Bike Rides are Fun & Inclusive

A fun, safe way to build connections and explore our neighborhoods by bike

The Heights Bicycle Coalition (HBC) will launch its Tuesday evening series of bike rides on June 4, occurring every other week through the end of October. These casual community rides are 8-10 miles and are designed to be a fun and inclusive experience for riders of varying ages and abilities with no riders left behind.

Each ride gathers at 6:30 p.m. and departs at 7:00 p.m., with the exception of October rides, which gather at 5:30 p.m. and depart at 6 p.m. due to fewer hours of daylight. Rides are led and supported by a group of skilled volunteers. With a different start and stop location for each ride, participants will explore neighborhoods throughout HBC’s footprint of Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, University Heights and South Euclid.

With a mix of novice riders and seasoned cyclists, group rides like these become an informal classroom on two wheels. Riders are encouraged to bring a white front light, red tail light, a beverage to stay hydrated, a helmet and of course a bike that’s in good working condition.

There’s an easy way to make sure your bike is in good working order before joining these rides or hitting the road. It’s called the ABC Quick Check and it involves checking your bike’s tires for air pressure, and ensuring your brakes and chain are working properly. HBC ride leaders walk participants through a basic ABC Quick Check before each ride and a bike pump is always on hand.

Come join the fun and safely experience exploring our neighborhoods on two wheels.
