Heights Community says farewell to fallen cyclist

On January 31, Heights residents paid their final respects to the late Terrance (Terry) Ryan. Terry was a cyclist and Cleveland Heights resident. He died on December 31 as a result of a bike-motorist collision at the intersections of Lee and East Scarborough Roads on December 28, 2020.
Family members, neighbors, friends, and bicycling activists came together to commemorate Terry near the accident site. They also installed a ghost bike at the northeastern corner of the intersection. A ghost bike is a bicycle painted in white and set roadside as a memorial at the site where a cyclist was killed, or several were injured, usually by a motorist. It also serves as a reminder to share the road. The ghost bike was generously donated by Ohio City Bicycle Co-op and painted in white by Heights residents Ee Durbin and Evan Guarr.
A GoFundMe campaigned was launched by a group of Terry’s neighbors to help his family cover funeral expenses. Individuals interested in contributing can click on this link to access the fundraiser.
Thank you for this meaningful memorial to a member of the community.
We appreciate that. 🙂
