May is Bike Month!

Every year, cities across the nation celebrate National Bike Month during May. This annual celebration highlights bikes, biking, and the people who ride them! HBC encourages residents of Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, South Euclid, and University Heights to get outside and ride.
There are many ways to participate through community rides, bike education events, fix-it clinics, advocacy efforts, and more. HBC is hosting and supporting a variety of events that are free and open to all. HBC urges all residents to bike to work, school, or anywhere by bike during May.

Ride of Silence + “Changing Lanes” Film Screening
đź“… Thursday, May 21, 2026
⏰ 5:15 PM
📍 John Carroll Parking Lot next to Dolan Science Center
John Carroll Blvd, University Heights
On Thursday, May 21st – 2026, join people from across Greater Cleveland (and the world) for the most important event of the year. Local cyclists will join others across the globe in a silent slow-paced ride in honor of vulnerable road users who have been injured or killed on our public roadways. Our recent Crash Report shows that in 2024, 603 people biking and walking were hit by motor vehicles in Cleveland – so this cause has a great deal of local weight.
NEW THIS YEAR: Our end point will be the Cinematheque in University Circle – where you can watch the film “Changing Lanes” which is a compelling call to action for democracy at street level. There will be a short panel discussion after the film to discuss the themes before riding back. Please purchase your movie tickets in advance if you plan to stay for this portion. Use the code BIKECLE for a $3 discount on general admission tickets to CHANGING LANES which can be used online or at the box office.
Meet at the John Carroll parking lot off Carroll Blvd next to the Dolan Science Center at 5:15PM. This will be a 5 mile (one way) on-street group ride led by the Heights Bicycle Coalition to the Cinematheque. After the film and panel discussion, riders are then free to find their way back to where they began. If you do not wish to stay for the movie & panel, you are still welcome to participate in the ride, simply circle back afterwards.

We track budgets, build data tools, and physically improve streets one meeting at a time. Join us and help make change in your neighborhood!
Volunteer: NOACA Bicycle & Pedestrian Counts
